HLA IEEE 1516 is the current standard for simulations interoperability. Still many users of distributed simulations have legacy systems based on the older DIS standard. The ¡°Pitch DIS Adapter™ for HLA 1516¡± facilitates a gradual transition to today¡¯s standard for users of both training and analytical systems. Information about objects (like aircrafts, ships, humans, munition etc) is effectively shared between users of DIS-based and HLA-based simulations. The Adapter can be used as-is or configured and customized to meet specific customer needs.
Concept of operation
The ¡°Pitch DIS Adapter™ for HLA 1516¡± allows DIS exercises and HLA 1516 Federations to exchange information in both directions. On the HLA side it acts as a federate that publishes the DIS objects in the federation. On the DIS side it acts as an ordinary DIS application, transmitting information about objects owned by HLA federates using the DIS protocol.
